Don’t miss here if you come to Ayutthaya. Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace in Thailand's ancient capital of Ayutthaya until the city was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. It was the grandest and most beautiful temple in the capital and it served as a model for Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok

Remember to respect the local culture when taking photos of the Buddha head nested in the bodhi tree roots. Sit on the platform instead of standing and the guards won shout at you. Bring some water and wear a cap. It can get quite hot.

A Canadian Tourist Review: If you are looking for the giant Reclining Buddha, this is NOT the temple. Every local pointed us back to this temple, but it's actually at Wat Lokaya Sutharam. Very beautiful pagodas and prangs, regardless.

Great place to visit after checking out the giant Buddha next door. Has many large stupas and can walk around and take nice pictures.

The city on which Bangkok was modeled. A site with dedicated UNESCO status.. certainly something worth crossing off on your bucket list. This is an open air museum.. be prepared for the elements.. rain..sun.. it all comes at you with the added joy of serious humidity. Entrance fee of 50THB helps with the upkeep and maintenance. Worthy of some social network photos or just quiet nostalgia of life a few centuries ago.

The most important temple during the Ayutthaya dynasty. It featured three stupas and contained the remains of the king and prince. It was destroyed by the Burmese invasion in 1767, but was restored after the war. The pagoda in the daytime has an impact, but the pagoda illuminated at night time is also mysterious.

Surprisingly not as popular as Wat Mahathat with tourists...I think this is far more spectacular. Certainly more pretty with breathtaking views throughout. Very hot and I recommend an umbrella for shade. Duel pricing exists throughout Thailand and entry is 50 bath for foreigners and 10 for Thai. I have no issue with this and mention only for reference. Good luck

Historical symbol is hidden in this beautiful place. This can reflect the past civilization. This great architecture is very unique. You see it, you could not stop thinking of its stories through the remaining old Thai traditional stupa and so on. Please come here to perceive its such a meaningful place.
