The staff at Thanakarn Hospital are courteous, thorough, proficient & professional as one other reviewer stated "I don't understand why all the bad reviews" ditto, this is a fantastic place to come if you are a foreigner. From admission, triage, doctor, nurse administering 2 shots of penicillin with a 30min wait in a hospital bed for observation, cashier & onsite pharmacy for my prescribed medicines we were happily on our way out the door in under an hour. A BIG THANK YOU from me to all the delightful staff whom tended to me during my visit - Highly recommend this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't understand all the bad reviews - this is an excellent hospital for foreigners. I took my son there at about 9.15 pm with a pee-pee problem and after giving his passport and medical insurance details he was inside having his vitals taken by an English speaking nurse, then seen by an English speaking doctor. After a urine analysis, which to about 30 minutes, he was diagnosed as having a bladder infection, given medicine and a bill for 700 baht - a very reasonable price for Thailand. Take no notice of the bad reviews, this is THE place to go if you are ill in Kanchanaburi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a bad bacterial stomach infection with intense symptoms and felt that I needed to see a doctor so I came to the emergency room here. They immediately found me a nurse who could speak English and I was escorted right away to a triage room. I was diagnosed by an English-speaking doctor within 20 mins and within the hour I was brought to my own private room and given a bed and a saline and antibiotics IV. I stayed 1 whole night (approximately 24 hours) and the quality of my care throughout was excellent. Nurses checked on me frequently, the doctor visited me twice, and the room I was in was clean, quiet and well-equipped. The whole stay, including prescription medication I was given on the way out, was only about 8,000 THB (which was covered by my travel insurance - make sure you have it!). The only negative thing I can say is that the food was mediocre, but that's true in many hospitals all around the world.
Don't hesitate to visit Thanakan if you need care in Kanchanaburi, you will be well looked after!
