This is in the grounds of the Ministry of Defence facility. There are armed guards present to keep you off the grounds. Basically their front yards. Old Big Gun Museum is located in the old building of the Ministry of Defense, opposite the royal palace. King Chulaongkorn or King Rama V ordered Lord Surasak (Jerm Saengchuto) as the construction leader to build solider building in front of the palace of King Rama I’s prince. The uniqueness of the museum is the 3-storey European building. The building is painted in yellow with white lines while the windows are painted in green. The building color of yellow with green color was very popular in the past. The building is large, wide and long to the edge of your vision. In front of the building are 40 old cannons such as Naraisangharn cannon, Phya Thanee cannon and the old cannon set from France. This is the outdoor museum which displays the old cannons from late Ayutthaya period until Rattanakosin period which are narrated according to the age and era.

I once went to a museum that was just a bunch of rocks in a guy's backyard, I stayed two hours and took a dozen photos, it was much better than this. If you're walking by turn your head and look, if you try to walk near anyting the guards will chase you off so don't waste your time even walking across the street to look at it. It shouldn't even be called a museum, more like a collection.

If you are passing by, it's OK but doesn't worth it to come specifically because of this. It doesn't look like you can come closer to cannons.

It’s military area with big park at the front. However, you can go inside the park to have a look at the big gun also.
