Undergoing renovation at present. No ferry service to anywhere except to Wat Arun. You can travel there and then change boats to saphan taksin or hualampong.

On March 2018, the N8 Tha Tian pier is under renovation, boats park to Wat Arun(黎明寺) instead. Route between Wah Pho(卧佛寺) and Wah Arun(黎明寺) keep normal service.

The must stop pier for those who want to cross the river by ferry from Wat Pho to Wat Arun. The fare is 4 Bht per person. The pier and ferry service opens from 6am to 7pm. By crossing the river, you will get a panoramic view of the Chaophaya river.

It is the fastest way to get from Wat Pho to Wat Arun. Just get the ferryboat here. It is very cheap only 4 Baht per person and take only few minutes to across the river and you can also enjoy the food and shopping on the way from Wat Pho to the port.

Tha Tien ... Ferry warfare pier.. Just at the foot of Wat Pho ( Reclining Buddha ) stands the ferry pier Tha Tien. From here you can take a two minute ferry ride across to Wat Arun ( temple of dawn ). A nice ride...they charge four baht per person.

You can use this pier to travel across the river if you want to visit the Wat Arun temple. It`s just a 10 minutes crossing on one of the local big boats. The price for 1 person is 4 baht. Usually the boat is full of people but it`s nice to experience the local transport system in Bangkok.

Bangkok Yai, Wat Arun and the Tha Tien Ferry service across the Chao Phraya River. Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is one of Bangkok's best known landmarks. The ferry terminal that will take you across here from Bangkok side is Tha Tien. It is a short ferry ride across the Chao Phraya river. A visit to the beautiful, peaceful monastery complex surrounding the familiar towers is a must while in Bangkok. These towers, the Phra Prang majestically standing on the banks of the Chao Phraya. They are only a small part of Wat Arun. The ferry that takes you across to Wat Arun here takes about 3 minutes but I always feel uneasy on this trip. The boat is a flat bottomed ferry and when 40 to 50 people move to one side to get off the ferry it has a worrying tilt to it. The last thing I want is to end up in the River with my cameras and camcorder, if the currents don’t get you just hope and pray the Crocodiles don’t. This river is not somewhere you want to be bathing in, it does get polluted by all manner of items being thrown in. It's a very imposing temple, but I have to say that the climbing of the steps at this site is no fun! Myself I do not like heights, stemming from climbing the mast at HMS Ganges in Suffolk, when I was 16 years old, arriving at the top of the mast, the frightening urge struck me to want to get down quick. Watching people climbing these steps at Wat Arun is much the same, so many struggle with the sheer height and steepness of them. It's a very unnerving experience, but I must admit the views from the balconies across the river are worth it. Also you will find at this temple a variety of stalls selling the usual bric a brac, but some of it is interesting to discover here. I have to admit I have been to this Temple many times and I never get bored quite the same as I do when I visit others. The central balcony commands an impressive view of Bangkok, from here you can see the Grand Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the splendours of Wat Po. The towers of Wat Arun are built of brick covered with stucco. The decorations are unique; thousands of pieces of multi coloured Chinese porcelain that glisten in the sunlight. In niches in the central tower are green figures of the God Indra seated on Erawan, the traditional Thai three - headed elephant. A huge one of these can be seen in Samut Prakan at the Erawan Museum, which I will be covering later. Also in the smaller towers they contain figures of the Moon God, on a white horse. The trident of Shiva extends from the top of each tower. Wat Arun figures in one of Thailand's most colourful festival’s , the Royal Tod Kathin. During this, His Majesty the King travels down the river in a procession of Royal barges to present new robes to the monks after their three month lent period. Location of Wat Arun Ratchawararam is located on the west side of Chao Phaya River No. 34, Arun Amarin Road, Kwang Wat Arun, Khet , Bangkok Yai, Bangkok Getting to Wat Arun By Boat :Take a cross-river ferry at Tha Tien Pier on Thai Wang Road. The ferry takes off about every 10 - 15 minutes. Ticket is 3 Baht.- per person per one way. The ferry operates from 06.00 - 22.00 hrs. Daily. By Car : The nearest way is to cross Chao Phraya River by Pinklao Bridge and turn left on Arun Amarin Road. Go straight ahead, drive pass Sirirat Hospital, Navy Office, Wat Kruawan, and another Navy Office, Wat Arun is on your left hand-side. By Bus : Buses to Wat Arun are no. 19, 57 and 83.
