★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a thai local Market located about 700 meters from the BTS Wongwian Yai station. By local market I mean that if you are a Westerner, you will be an isolated face there. The market stretches up and down the road with a variety of vendors. Produce is fabulous and cheap. Fish are amazingly fresh. While the sanitation is not up to Western standards, if you know how to shop in a Thai market you will be fine. Although not a lot of westerners go there, most of the people are very friendly and quite frankly, are amused at your reaction to seeing eviscerated frogs, live eels, and all sorts of strange edibles. Be careful, the concrete can be slippery. There are snack food vendors everywhere as well as some sit-down stalls. Go see how the locals do it and have some fun. Best to go in the morning when they are still delivering the fresh seafood, plus it isn't quite so hot. remember to be polite and ask permission before you take a picture of any person. Negotiating on the fruit and vegetables is fine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Local market for food and groceries located near the Thaksin monument both retail and wholesale. Great selection of seafood, e.g. shrimp, clams, fish, etc. at cheap prices as this was the terminus of the old railway from the seafood market; however, it's a market, so the seafood is for cooking at home. The market is open early and closes late. There is a nice selection of foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner to be found throughout the area, but most of it is takeaway. We get our fresh fruits and vegetables here also. They only sell the local fruits that are in season, so selection varies. There are two markets in the same location so check out both.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Actually a commercial market serving mostly the restaurant fish industry. Probably 40 or so tuk-tuks lined up to help with delivery.
The market is on both sides of the street.
Of course beef, chicken vegetables, fruit and fish are also sold. However if you want fish this is the largest market.
