★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Wat Sa Si temple is located on a small island in the middle of the lotus flowers pond, it is one of the most attractive monuments of the Sukhothai Historical Park.
Build towards the end of the 14thcentury. The small temple consists of a principal chedi, another smaller chedi, a viharn, an ubosot and a Sukhothai style walking Buddha image.
The main chedi, a well preserved bell shaped chedi in Singhalese style is set on a square base.
In front of the main chedi is the viharn or assembly hall, of which the base and rows of pillars remain. Seated on a pedestal to the back of the viharn is a large stuccoed stone image of the Buddha in the Bhumisparsha mudra, also known as “calling the Earth to witness” or “subduing Mara”.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The great monument of the ancient kingdom. The scenery at the sunset is so wonderful. I personally believe that it is better to walk around the historical park than riding a bicylce so that one can thoroughly view the scenery of the architecture and nature surrounding it.
