A beautiful wooden temple set against a majestic mountain.

The whole temple is made of Teakwood. A very beautiful scene for taking photo if you bring the camera. Summer is pretty hot and dry here.

Temple with reclining buddah in the cave

Beautiful temple at the base of a limestone outcrop visible for miles. A sacred place with caves inhabited by a giant sleeping Buddha and many other deities. The main temple is built of wood. Beautifully lacquered. A must see on the main Southern Petchkasem highway. Too bad too many people just drove by without stopping.

This beautifully maintained Wat (Temple) is situated right next to the famous Tham Khao Yoi Cave. The temple is constructed entirely out of wood and has impressive mural scenes. Inside the cave on only a few minutes walking distance, you'll find a 16-meter reclining Lord Buddha, an impressive array of stalagmites and stalactites and you can receive a blessing from a monk. Both locations are well worth a visit. See my review and photos of Tham Khao Yoi for more information on the cave.

Modern temple, partly in a cave. It also features a beautiful teak wood Ubosot.

We've drive past here many times since coming to Thailand, but this time we were early heading to our destination so we stopped. Not being Buddhist, we did not have a lot of interest in the lower cave with a reclining Buddha and other images. However, we noticed a stairway to the north of the Buddha cave and went up that finding ourselves on a paved trail. We never made it to the end because we saw a broken sign (in Thai) mentioning a cave, so we stepped a few paces of the trail and saw a metal stairway into the cave. The stairway was in better condition than in some caves I have been. There were lots of openings in the top of the cave, so you did not need a flashlight. Not a lot of stalactites or stalagmites. In the last room there was a set of stair that went steeply to the opening in the top, but we had not brought any water, so we did not go up. On our way down, there were hundreds of monkeys headed up the hill from the parking lot. It was a bit scary going down because they were all over the stairs and the hillside. But we each grabbed two sticks and held them out in each arm and it kept them away from us. What a fun diversion.
