★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pat Café Bo Raan แพท คาเฟ่ โบราณ is a great people-watching spot on Phra Sumen and Dinso Road in Phra Nakhon, where you can sip on traditional Thai coffee (คาเฟ่ โบราณ, or cafe boran) or Thai iced tea. Enjoy some khao chae, a traditional and refreshing Thai dish on a hot summer's day, rice soaked in cool, flower-scented water and eaten with various sweet peppers, pork, shrimp paste balls, veggies, etc. The second floor is a beautiful art gallery tribute to King Number IX with various artifacts and unique artwork honoring him.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sat down on a whim, despite the place being empty when I got here (~8.30 on a Thursday), and glad I did! Service was attentive, speedy (duh) and smiling. On recommendation from the waitress I tried the Massaman chicken curry, which was fragrant and flavoursome, with a rich sauce. It was so tasty I really could have eaten more, but it was enough. Also had the mango smoothie, which was very mangoey and thick and really hit the spot. You'd be safe ordering what I had if you're not feeling adventurous ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was at Wat Bawornnives for morning merit making. After the ceremony finished, I came across this cafe so I decided to try at 6.30 am. When I was in the cafe and looked around, I felt like I was not in Bangkok but somewhere like Hua him in that morning. The cappuccino was good and pan fried eggs made the beautiful morning for me.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stopped by for just a coffee and didn't eat. It is next to a busy road so if you want a peaceful moment, then this isn't the place for you. The service was good, there are more staff then clients, the coffee was decent, just it is noisy.
