★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful train ride with a tragic history, and some incredible engineering used to build sections of the railway. The train ride from Kanchanaburi is the main reason people come here; a case where the saying that "it's about the journey, not the destination" is actually true. Make sure you have a few bottles of water with you, because the journey is very s l o w.
