I have just completed the Journey 1 course at Duke Language School, I found the course a lot of fun. The teacher Namwan made the lessons interesting and fun and is a really good teacher. I am about to start Journey 2 today and I am looking forward to continuing to learn Thai with Duke Language School.

This language school is just outstanding and highly recommendable! I would describe myself as rather critical when it comes to language schools because I did my TESL in a Canadian school and learned Bahasa Indonesia in Indonesia (and I’m German). For me, the most important thing in learning Thai was the curriculum. I’m still excited about how well the books are structured, but also how didactically the lessons are designed. All teachers (I had at least 5) were very competent, super friendly, and the lessons were always fun. In addition, I must mention that I have participated in the lessons exclusively online because we live in another part of Thailand. Unfortunately, this leads to the fact that you experience no (or at least a different form of) class dynamics. But I would still say it is advantageous for everyone who wants to save time commuting to school and being more flexible. So just try it out yourselves and have fun learning Thai!

Great teachers and content for the classes. Duke was very helpful with processing the ED visa, with great communication throughout the whole process. However the classes are larger than I would like (10-13 people in the lower levels). If you are serious about learning the Thai language, Duke is highly recommended.

I've been studying Thai at Duke language school since January this year and continued with Journey 2 today. From Journey 1 I can say that I really appreciate the energy, positivity and humor kruu Mim brings to class. It makes the online class engaging and something to look forward too. I think this is a great accomplishment as this is the first language I study online (studied 5 others before), but I would say it's the best learning experience. On top of this I feel the slides and the book are also really well put together. I don't see any improvements, Duke has a great reputation and now I understand why.

Duke Language School is a good choice if you want to study Thai Language. The cost and benefits that earn from here is very worth it. The teachers who taught both in class and Online are very patient, good at teaching and they can explain the confused things in easy way well. Even the difficult things we have learnt before became easy when DUKE teachers taught. The outlines of the textbook are very nice.

Great experience with DLS. Friendly and well organize school. They can help from Thai classes till visa for the students. I took five classes with the discount. The students can manage the classes by themselves either morning or afternoon upon the convenience. This trip, I chose to stay at Miami Hotel ( new renovated hotel ) next to the school. It was really perfect. Nice designed hotel with the new hygiene standard SHA Plus. The room was large with the high ceiling. Aplus with a large outdoor swimming pool. Affordable with friendly staffs. Great location close to all mass transits both skytrain and subway. Surrounded with many restaurants and department stores (all in walking distance). Best thing was the location next to the school.

If you are looking for a reliable, professional Thai language school, search no more. Duke Language School WILL teach you Thai, whether you like it or not ? Jokes aside, it's by far the best Thai school in Bangkok, for sure. The opinions you read here are 100% valid. The teachers are fun and professional, the methods they use are engaging and challenging. It all makes you learn more and more each day with revision of previous days as well. The course started in class in April but later moved to online classes and I'd say it was amazing what they did. Online learning is no less fun and work, it's also all thoroughly prepared, just like the in-class learning. The Admin Team helped me all the way from getting an ED visa and making each extension deadline a seamless process. All was explained, all questions answered. I'd recommend this place 10/10 times. Thank you DLS!

First of all, learning any language is a lot of hard work. Anyone who tells you that there is a magic pill is telling you a lie. I am a native Chinese speaker and speak fluent English. I have also studied Korean in Korea for 9 months and some Japanese on the side. The Duke Language School is truly the best for several reasons. 1. Overall management. When I first started contacting the school, I was communicating with the manager Royce. He patiently answered all my questions and concerns regarding learning Thai and the Thailand's education visa. When I had some issues in class, he immediately stepped in and we connected over the phone to resolve my issues. I also can tell how excellent this school has been run just based on the quality of the staff and the teachers. They don't take any short cuts at all. You can tell that this organization has a top-notch leadership and a clear vision. That speaks volume about the manager Royce's work. 2. Once Royce has helped me as much as he can, I was passed on to an administrator named Ting. I am not at a young age and I have dealt with my fair share of administration staff both in my own past business and in my daily life. Ting is an excellent administrator and point person for the school. She prepared all my documents to apply for the ED (education) visa. She told me the timeline on what should happen next and when should happen. She is just extremely good at her job. If you are an English speaker, you most likely will have her as your administrator. Trust me, you will appreciate her as much as I have. 3. I have just finished the first month of class learning Thai (Journey 1). I had teacher Zen as my teacher. I had many language teachers in my life. None of them could compare to teacher Zen. She is a bit over the top, but that's what makes her funny and engaging. She works extremely hard to achieve perfection, and that is to teach the Thai language to novices in the simplest and most interesting way possible. In every class, I laughed so much and there is nothing better to learn a language through laughter. Before we started every class, her whiteboard was always full. She meant business and was always well prepared. If you do choose to come to this school, I would highly recommend you to ask your administrator on who your teacher will be. If you can, try to get into teacher Zen's class. You will not be disappointed. So, the management is 100%, the administration is 100%, and the teacher is 100%. What is not 100%? Well, I would have to give the curriculum a 90%. The reason is that the speed of the course is very fast. Even after I passed Journey 1 with flying colors, I felt that I have not mastered the material yet. But to be fair, the school is designed to get you out of the door in 9 months to be conversationally fluent in Thai and be able to function in the Thai society. That's a highly ambitious goal for any language. So to be honest, I would not hold that against the Duke Language School. It's meant to be difficult and challenging. You will have to study after class. If you don't, you will fall behind. Overall, I give Duke a huge thumbs up. If you want to come to Bangkok to study Thai, look no further than the Duke Language School.
