★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just not good enough for the money. Don’t do a wine pairing if you are just going to slap the glasses down at random times. This is a sharing platter menu for 5k a person, which I could live with if the food was exceptional. Sadly it didn’t come close to the 200baht dumplings I had today

The food, wine, service and setting with open kitchen is great! I really enjoyed the open kitchen watching the service and interactions of the kitchen team. Growing up in a restaurant family and working in them is great to see.
The food is amazing, really strong and bold Thai flavours. Surprisingly the fried tomato salad was my pick of the night (with flavours that just smack you in the face!!), though only slightly ahead of the red curry.
The wine list has a great variety with a mix of prices, I think a lot of the higher end Bangkok restaurants price themselves out of being somewhere you would visit regularly due to wine prices and thankfully this is somewhere we can regularly visit!!
So I went in being a huge fan of Chef Thompson and left just as big a fan if not bigger fan after was able to share a 15 minute chat with him.
They may have fixed now, but google maps might send you a block away. But the entrance is at the Central: The Original Store.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely not worth it. Staff pushed all dishes at once - to the point where we had three different wines (part of a wine pairing) on the table at once… David was in the restaurant and when we asked how he was, he said “SHIT”.
We were only allowed to order the tasting menu - the large majority of which was served all at once without explanation - which for 5000THB per person is insane.
While the food was good, the service and attitude completely destroyed any value.
At this point I wouldn’t recommend anyone eat here - rushed, empty, negative and a major rip off.
What a disappointment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There is always something new and delicious cooking at Aksorn, drawing inspiration from David Thompson's library of old Thai cookbooks from the 1900s. The courses are wonderfully thought out, with delightful appetizers, bold full flavored main dishes, and easily the best Thai desserts in the city.
